Well! I am too fond of day dreaming. Now don't mistake this to be just another dream by a chocolate girl. This dream has no lover involved, not a thriller and ofcourse not a sob story.
Now I feel its even wrong to call it a dream. It s my vision for the generation Next.
As the Reliance punch line goes. This is a free piece of advice/idea from me to the media, to the younger generation and of course to all those MBA grads out there who is brainstorming how good to market their health drink, cereal, pens, shoes etc...
Now you might ask. "To WHOM??, MBA GRADS!!! "
This is how it all started. I was on my way from Mumbai to Pune on a sunday night with my buddy by Shivneri*. Got the last uncomfortable seats and the only way to forget the uncomfortness was to chit chat all the way long.
I asked my buddy." What is technically special about volvo bus? how is it different from Tata" and from there the converstaion went onto steam, petrol and diesel engines, carnot cycle and so on..The sky rocketting price of petrol worried me,so was I worried about the severe power crunch that the world is limping onto, US trying to snatch most of the natural resources of oil all over the world and now being an educated and responsible citizen I wanted to do something about it. I told my buddy "you are a mechanical engineer can you not brainstorm and come up with some ideas for alternate resources of power?" Now if someone tells me "you are a Comp.Sci engg can u come up with a new algorithm for encryption" I would try and hit the next exit out of there :p
Soon a silence followed and thus I started my vision for Gen Next. As you all know a day would soon come when Uncle Sam determines which country should get oil and at what rate? If we (India) by any chance become a friend of China, then for sure we would have to buy oil from Uncle Sam at ridiculous rate. Lets not even bother about Sam henceforth.
In what ways can we invent a new source of power? I propose that students right from Class 8 should be given opportunity to brainstorm on this. There should be a forum where they can present their ideas. something like the paper presentation that we have in our Engg.colleges
The students from class 8 to P.hd level can be sorted onto different category, where each category would present their ideas. The best/feasible idea should be funded for experimenting.
Now the question comes, Which forum? without battling an eyelash here goes my reply. The tV media. There are scores of channels these days, which are doing all sorts of reality shows, dance and music talent hunt. This would be just another big scoop for them. All those nerds out there who can hardly sing or dance but would solve the toughest physics problemor solve the wierd chemical equation in few seconds would jump onto this. After all who doesnt like to come to limelight?
Now to answer the next question who would sponsor this. All those companies who market health drinks, cereals, pen, pencil, shoe and so on.. I would'nt be surprised to find any particular textile industry claiming that 'if the student wears their fabric for the school would be a winner in the competition.'
Once established Energy and power need not be the only reason to have this programme. we would have lots and lots of ideas and inventions coming out of this. what say people? dont you think this is do-able? If people can do all sorts of crazy things for reality shows then why not for the betterment of nation? why do u hesitate?
Media people are u listening???

I appreciate your thoughts. Keep writing, which will help in bringing the best in you.
Dream is a btter word to Vision because the idea seems to be a dream ...
:)
Power, hunger and greed are never ending problems. They aggravate on time. Any other problem is a by product of the above!
hmm...technical reality show...good idea! will u be there too with ur new algorithm for encryption or whatever u said in the blog ;-) the only problem i see is the new gen will have to mug up that too like we used to mug up those 'what-u-call-them' algorithms(or did we just copy from edwich?? :-D )
hi da , good thinking.. like petrol, diesal..electricty wil b soon unreachable... why dont we in india, where half of the year the sun is right above head making as sweat an cry, use the solar power. like in UK where people startd using solar power systems at home, which is used for electricity, water heating, radiators...y cant we use this source of energy which we have in plenty.its ofcourse an expensive one to launch, but with some research and thinking we can reduce the cost..and in india there is a good percentage of the population who can afford this, y dont they take the lead??
